Aldehyde Ketone Resin

CAS No: 25054-06-2

Aldehyde ketone resin—also known in the printing ink and coatings market as ketone resin, ketonic resin or ketone–aldehyde resin—is a synthetic condensation resin commonly based on cyclohexanone and formaldehyde. It is primarily evaluated as an auxiliary binder or formulation modifier in compatible ink and coating systems.

Technical Overview

In compatible formulations, these resins can be evaluated as auxiliary binders, co-binders, grinding resins or performance modifiers for printing inks, paints and coatings. Depending on the selected grade and complete formulation, they may support pigment wetting, gloss, hardness, adhesion, drying behaviour and the balance between solids content and viscosity.

Final solubility, compatibility and performance should be confirmed with the intended primary binder, solvent blend, pigment, additives, substrate and processing conditions.

Selection considerations

Role in the formulation

Our resins serve as auxiliary binders or modifying resins for compatible inks and lacquers.

Selection data

Softening point and hydroxyl value provide an initial comparison between grades. Request the current TDS and SDS for detailed technical and safety information.

Applications

The range serves flexographic, gravure and screen inks, lacquers and selected ballpoint formulations.
